As an actor, Abigail always asks her directors "what story are you trying to tell?" She is, and always has been, conscious that the actor's job is to be a single piece that must fit seamlessly into the puzzle the director is responsible for putting together. As an audience member, whenever Abigail gets swept up in a piece or finds herself unable to be moved, she returns to the same question: "what story did the director tell?"  Story! Story! Story! When it comes to directing, story is everything. It's the infrastructure of any piece of good art. As she develops her voice as a director, Abigail  insists that everyone involved in a production knows what story they are a part of telling, because it's a challenge to get a show produced - it's a MIRACLE to produce a great show! She believes that when everyone knows what part they play in the much greater whole, there's better chance of success.

Abigail's story obsession has helped her develop an aesthetic focused on simple, yet bold design. She uses her coaching skills to communicate with individual actors and designers, with the intention to clarify story, have a cohesive vision, and most importantly to emphasize high stakes in the relationships between the characters, as well as the production's relationship to its audience.
